How Roll codes are generated & what they mean

Roll codes are the earliest bit of logic that lead to building Cassette Nest. They follow this pattern:

format-type-sequence

The main gist of it is that every roll you ever load into a camera will have a unique code per year. The purpose of this is to have a unique identifier for every roll in your collection. Write this number on your sleeve of negatives and you'll never forget the details for a roll!

Every time you load a roll of film into a camera in Cassette Nest, the roll code will be generated for you.

What does it all mean? A code made up of 3 pieces:

  1. Format
  2. Type
  3. Sequence Number
